School zone installed on Barnes Road at Doherty High School
The City of Colorado Springs will activate a new school zone at Doherty High School on Monday, April 24. A new school zone on Barnes Road, between Austin Bluffs Road and Oro Blanco Road, includes flashing 20 mph speed limit signs, along with road markings. The school zone will be active each morning on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 7 a.m. to 7:50 a.m., and on Wednesday from 7:55 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. The flashing signs will also be activated each weekday from 3:00 p.m. to 3:50 p.m.

Ballots set to be mailed April 24 for 2023 Mayoral Run-off Election
Ballots for the 2023 mayoral run-off election will be mailed to registered voters in Colorado Springs on Monday, April 24. City Charter dictates a run-off election between the two mayoral candidates who received the most votes on April 4. Voters will choose between Wayne Williams and Yemi Mobolade. All ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. on election day, May 16, 2023.
Free Earth Month activities in Colorado Springs Saturday
It’s Earth Month and there are several ways to get involved and celebrate in Colorado Springs on Saturday, April 22. Free community events are taking place at the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center, Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, Garden of the Gods Park, and Meadows Park Community Center.
Four New City Councilmembers Sworn In
Michelle Talarico, David Leinweber, Lynette Crow-Iverson, and Brian Risley were sworn in as City Councilmembers on April 18. After the ceremony, the new council elected Randy Helms as Council President and Lynette Crow-Iverson as President Pro Tem.
