The Colorado Springs Airport (COS) welcomed a new carrier to the COS roster this week. Sun Country Airlines will begin nonstop service twice a week to Minneapolis/ St. Paul (MSP) effective June 8, 2023 – September 4, 2023. Beginning September 5, 2023, service will go to one time a week through November 26, 2023.

Participants can now sign up for Bike to Work Day on Wednesday, June 28. Riders can partake in a free breakfast at any of more than 30 breakfast stations on the trail system and at local businesses throughout Colorado Springs from 6 to 9 a.m.

On Wednesday, June 7, Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain celebrated 75 years of operation under the City of Colorado Springs. The City began operating Pikes Peak Highway on June 7, 1948 under a Special Use Permit agreement with the United States Forest Service (USFS), implementing a toll for users to cover maintenance and management of the highway.

Yemi Mobolade was sworn in as the 42nd mayor of Colorado Springs on Tuesday, June 6. “It’s with great humility and gratitude that I stand before you and accept this responsibility as your elected mayor,” said Mayor Yemi during his speech. “As the city’s first elected black and immigrant mayor, I am a living promise to the American Dream, and I am deeply honored to have been entrusted with the responsibility to serve your families and help lead this remarkable city. I stand on the shoulders of many giants before me. We are all heirs to the vision of our city’s founder, General Palmer, who set out to build a city that is worthy of the breathtaking beauty that surrounds us.”

The City of Colorado Springs is seeking volunteers to serve on the Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax (LART) Citizens’ Advisory Committee. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Mondy, June 19. The application web form can be found and submitted at ColoradoSprings.gov/boards.
