The City of Colorado Springs Community Development Division (CDD) opened the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Public Facilities and Infrastructure application today. The Division anticipates approximately $1 million of federal U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds are available for eligible projects that serve low-income communities.
The funds can be used for construction of facilities and improvements that are publicly owned, or that are owned by a nonprofit and open to the public. Non-profit organizations, faith-based organizations, and public agencies are invited to apply, provided they meet federal eligibility requirements. The minimum grant request is $250,000. Applicants must register online with Neighborly software to prepare and apply. Complete applications are due no later than 11:59 p.m. on March 14.
There is no limit to the number of applications an agency may submit, but each request for funding must be submitted as its own application. Applications selected for funding may receive less than the requested amount, depending on the number of applications received and the available funding. By applying, funding is not guaranteed to any agency or project.
CDD staff will also host a virtual information session on Feb. 18 at 9 a.m. for a program overview, technical assistance and to answer any questions. The City recommends at least one representative from each applicant organization attend the presentation.
