On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased victim, who has been identified as 41-year-old Kelty Marron, a resident of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, Mr. Marron’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
Mr. Marron’s death is the 40th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022. The CSPD investigated 30 homicides this time last year.
On Monday, October 10, 2022, as the initial investigation unfolded, 34-year-old Luke Herndon, a resident of Colorado Springs was identified as the suspect in this investigation. The investigation revealed that there is a known association between Mr. Herndon and Mr. Marron. Mr. Herndon was taken into custody and later booked into the El Paso County Jail on the charge of Murder in the Second Degree.

On 10/10/22, at approximately 7:50PM, CSPD Officers were dispatched to an assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased adult male on scene. The Violent Crimes Homicide/Assault Unit responded, and the investigation is ongoing. All further updates will come from the Public Information Office.
