On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the deceased victim, who has been identified as 27-year-old Allison Scarfone, a resident of Colorado Springs.  While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, Ms. Scarfone’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

Ms. Scarfone’s death is the 39th homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022.  The CSPD investigated 30 homicides this time last year. 

The family has provided a photograph of Ms. Scarfone.

On Monday, October 10, 2022, as the initial investigation unfolded, 39-year-old Gregory Whittemore, a resident of Colorado Springs was identified as the suspect in this investigation.  Also on Monday, October 10, 2022, Mr. Whittemore was taken into custody and later booked into the El Paso County Jail on the charge of Murder in the first degree.

On October 10, 2022, at approximately 8:18 p.m., CSPD Officers were dispatched to a reported dead body. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased female on scene. The Violent Crimes Homicide / Assault Unit responded, and the investigation is ongoing. All further updates will come from the Public Information Office.
