On November 12, 2023, at 4:07 PM, CSPD officers responded to the intersection of North Nevada Avenue and Mount View Lane regarding a traffic crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle. The motorcycle rider sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
Due to the nature of the crash, the CSPD Major Crash Team responded to the scene assumed responsibility for the investigation. It was determined the motorcycle was traveling northbound on North Nevada Avenue when the other vehicle turned left to go eastbound on Mount View Lane. The two vehicles then collided. The initial investigation indicates speed is a contributing factor.
On November 13, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased motorcyclist and identified him as 33-year-old Ryan Girard, a resident of Divide, Colorado.
This is the 46th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year, there were 50 traffic fatalities. There have been 52 traffic fatalities in the Colorado Springs in the last 365 days.
