
At the February 25, 2025 Regular Meeting, the Colorado Springs City Council voted unanimously to appoint Natalie Lovell as the next Colorado Springs City Auditor on first reading of the appointment ordinance. Upon approval of the second reading of the ordinance, the appointment will be finalized, and Natalie Lovell will be sworn in during the City Council Meeting on March 11th, 2025. The role of City Auditor serves at the will of the Colorado Springs City Council and is appointed by ordinance as set in the City Charter.
Natalie Lovell will assume the office of City Auditor following the retirement of her predecessor, Jacqueline Rowland, who has served as City Auditor since 2021. Prior to joining the City of Colorado Springs, Natalie has been working for Colorado Springs Utilities since 2016.
The mission of the Office of the City Auditor is to provide Council an independent, objective and comprehensive auditing program for operations of the City; to evaluate the adequacy of financial controls, records and operations and the effectiveness and efficiency of organizational operations; and provide the Council, management and employees objective analyses, appraisals and recommendations for improving systems and activities.
