Overview

This summer, the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department (PRCS) worked to enhance the existing playground structure at Rampart Community Park in northeast Colorado Springs. These improvements aimed to create an engaging environment for all ages and abilities, making the park a more inviting space and accessible for everyone in the community.

Key features of the renovation included:

  • The installation of a new play structure
  • Installation of artificial turn for increased accessibility and a safe, enjoyable surface for children of all abilities
  • Concrete and drainage work to enhance the overall functionality of the area

As of November 2025, the playground renovation at Rampart Park is now complete. The project delivered a fresh, inclusive play experience for neighborhood families while improving long-term accessibility and safety across the park. Crews removed outdated equipment and sand surfacing and installed a modern play structure, new seating, artificial grass play surface, and an accessible ramp from the parking lot into the main plaza area.

This project was funded by the Trails, Open Space and Parks program (TOPS) and the City’s Office of Accessibility.
